ABOUT - ARTIST STATEMENT
SARAH JENTSCH
Sarah Jentsch is an American artist who primarily creates paintings and drawings. Her work uses elements of fantasy and myth to explore the expectations of women in society, especially concerning fears of the bodily experiences of pregnancy and motherhood. Sarah creates worlds to express and control her emotions, embodying her experiences in images of dogs, tears, milk, blood, and an ever-growing language of symbols.
Sarah is currently pursuing her MFA at the school of Art, Art History and Design at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and is expected to graduate in Spring of 2022. She received her BFA degree from Stephen F Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in the fall of 2018. After graduation, she plans to return to her hometown of Houston, Texas.
